Welcome to Papermarket — a free, play-money prediction game. These Terms are a plain-language agreement about using it. The short version: it’s a game, there is no real money, be kind, and don’t cheat. The details below govern your use.
1. What Papermarket is (and is not)
Papermarket is a game: a playful prediction universe where you make calls on real-world events using “Paper” — virtual, play-money points with no monetary value.
Papermarket is expressly NOT, and must never be treated as:
- a real-money gambling, betting, wagering, or casino service;
- a securities, commodities, derivatives, or futures exchange, broker, or dealer;
- a money-transmission, banking, or financial service;
- a source of investment, legal, tax, or financial advice.
Paper, crates, cosmetics, ratings, trophies, and every other in-game item are virtual, have no cash value, cannot be redeemed, cashed out, sold, or transferred for anything of real-world value, and exist solely for entertainment inside Papermarket. Market questions and probabilities are for entertainment and are sourced from third parties (see §7); we do not guarantee their accuracy, completeness, or timeliness.
2. Acceptance & eligibility
By creating an account or using Papermarket (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, if higher) and legally able to form a binding contract. You represent that your use of the Service is lawful where you live. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
3. Your account
You are responsible for your account, for keeping your credentials secure, and for all activity that occurs under it. One account per person. Provide accurate information and keep it current. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. We may refuse, suspend, rename, or terminate accounts at our discretion, including for violations of these Terms.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break any law, or use the Service for anything illegal, harmful, fraudulent, or infringing;
- cheat, exploit bugs, manipulate ratings, wars, or leaderboards, or use bots, scrapers, or automated access except as we expressly permit;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems;
- harass, abuse, threaten, impersonate, or post content that is unlawful, hateful, or infringing;
- buy, sell, or transfer accounts, Paper, or items, or attempt to give any in-game item real-world value.
We may remove content, and warn, mute, suspend, or ban accounts, to enforce these rules.
5. Sky Pass subscriptions & billing
The Sky Pass is an optional paid subscription that unlocks cosmetic and convenience benefits only (visual flair, faster/larger daily bags, a larger crate-unlock queue, an amplified reward track of already-existing items). It never confers a competitive advantage: ratings, War Trophies, and prediction outcomes are earned by skill alone and are never for sale.
- Billing. Payments are processed by our third-party processors, Stripe and PayPal. By subscribing you authorize recurring charges to your selected payment method.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) at the then-current price, until canceled.
- Cancellation. You may cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals and your benefits continue until the end of the current paid period.
- Refunds. Except where required by applicable law, payments are non-refundable and there are no refunds or credits for partial periods, unused time, or virtual items.
- Price changes. We may change subscription prices; changes apply to future billing periods and, where required, with advance notice.
- Taxes. Prices may exclude taxes, which you are responsible for where applicable.
Virtual items and currency obtained through a subscription or otherwise remain virtual, non-transferable, and without cash value, and may be modified or discontinued as described in §1 and §13.
6. Intellectual property & your content
The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, and marks, is owned by Papermarket or its licensors and protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works except as permitted.
You retain ownership of content you submit (e.g., your display name, bio, chat messages). By submitting it, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and use it to operate and promote the Service. You are responsible for your content and represent you have the rights to it.
7. Third-party data & services
Market questions and probabilities are derived from third-party sources including Polymarket; sports scores from public sports data providers; and prices from public exchange data. Papermarket is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Polymarket or any data provider, exchange, team, league, or event organizer. We do not guarantee that third-party data is accurate, current, or available, and we are not liable for it.
We rely on third-party providers to run the Service (including Stripe and PayPal for payments, Cloudflare, Neon, Fly.io, Resend, and Google sign-in). Your use of features powered by them may be subject to their terms.
8. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ALL CONTENT, DATA, AND VIRTUAL ITEMS, IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT DATA IS ACCURATE, TIMELY, UNINTERRUPTED, OR ERROR-FREE.
Nothing on Papermarket is financial, investment, legal, or tax advice, or a recommendation to take any action in the real world. You are solely responsible for any decisions you make.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PAPERMARKET AND ITS OPERATORS, OWNERS, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR VIRTUAL ITEMS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $100. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Papermarket and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, including for violations of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution) will survive.
12. Disputes, arbitration & class-action waiver
Please contact us first at [email protected] so we can try to resolve any concern informally.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you and Papermarket agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, and not in court, except that either party may bring claims in small-claims court where eligible. You and Papermarket waive any right to a jury trial and to participate in a class, collective, or representative action. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing [email protected] within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. This section does not apply where prohibited by law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, except where your local mandatory consumer law applies.
13. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We are constantly improving Papermarket and may add, change, suspend, or remove features, items, and virtual economies at any time. We may update these Terms; when we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
